Lenovo Group, the second larger PC manufacturing company, said that devices that run on Microsoft’s Windows RT software will cost $200-$300 less than devices built on Windows 8 software. Microsoft will be releasing Windows 8 and Windows RT in October.
The new version of Windows will have a touch-screen interface for computers and tablets to effectively compete against the Apple iPad. Windows 8 will work on devices that are powered by Intel and AMD processors. Windows RT will be powered by devices that run on ARM chips.
?RT will play in consumer and retail at very aggressive price points,? stated Lenovo head of North America operations David Schmoock. ?It will do well but it?s going to be more of a consumer price point play to begin with.?
