LG Display Co Ltd (KRX:034220) announced that they have created a new 5.5-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560×1440 (538ppi) for smartphones. This is four times the pixels at 1280×720 displays, which ensures that “more delicate colors” can be seen.
The LG Quad HD LCD has the world’s slimmest and narrowest panel. The LG G2 was already pushing the limits at 1.21mm thick with a 1.2mm bezel, but LG found a way to beat themselves. The Quad HD display is 12% thinner than the 5.2″ FHD panel.
?LG Display, which pioneered the high resolution mobile market with introduction of the world?s first Full HD smartphone panel in 2012, again opens new possibilities with the successful application of QHD technology,? stated LG Display’s IT and Mobile Development Group Vice President and Head Dr. Byeong-koo Kim. ?With this breakthrough, LG Display will continue to raise new standards for mobile resolution and lead the mobile display market.?
