LG Electronics Inc. (KRX:066570) is building their own processors to use in their own products code-named “Odin.”  According to Digital Times Korea, the Odin processors may be used in LG’s flagship devices in 2014.

LG is creating quad-core and octacore versions of their Odin processors using Cortex A15 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.7GHz, according to UberGizmo.  LG is also rumored to be working on their own chipsets to cut costs and match their competitors that manufacture their own chips, such as Samsung.

The Odin quad-core chips are expected to be built into LG’s smart TVs and the octacores will be used in the smartphones and tablets.
