Ford Directly Takes On The Lexus ES 350 With The Lincoln MKZ

Posted Jul 24, 2012

Ford Motor Company is challenging the Lexus ES 350 with the Lincoln MKZ.  The Lincoln MKZ will be starting at $35,925, which is $175 less than the Lexus ES 350.  The Lincoln MKZ is a big deal for Ford because the Lincoln brand as a whole seems to have been neglected.

The MKZ has an all-glass roof that opens up automatically and slides over the back window, which gives the front and rear passengers a convertible-like experience.  The MKZ has Lincoln’s signature split-wing grill.

The MKZ is wider and it has a clean dashboard with flush buttons instead of knobs.  The Lexus ES 350 was the third highest-selling luxury brand in the U.S. behind BMW and Mercedes.  The last time that Lincoln was the top selling brand in the U.S. was back in 1998.

Over the last 10 years, Lexus has been the dominant luxury car brand.  Lincoln is outsold by seven other luxury brands as of right now.
