Lua Technologies Raises $2.5 Million

Lua Technologies has raised $2.5 million in a seed round of funding led by IA Ventures.  Other angel investors in this round include Charles Roven (The Dark Knight Rises producer), Strauss Zelnick, John Maloney (former Tumblr president), and Aaron Stone.

Lua has designed a mobile collaboration service and they have been approached by a myriad of companies from different industries ranging from hospitality to entertainment.  There are about 10-20 companies using Lua in beta mode.  Lua charges a $20 subscription fee for the group organizer.

All group members that use Lua under the organizer will be able to use the service for free.  Organizers can set up calendar appointments, group chats, 1:1 messages, and document uploading.  Lua plans to use the funding to expand from 13 to 20 employees and open a west coast office.  They currently have an office on 20th and Broadway in Manhattan.
