Today Apple has announced the arrival date and price of the new Mac Pro, which was previewed at the Apple WWDC conference this past June.  The new Mac Pro has a cylindrical design and will be available in December with a starting price of $2,999.  At the Apple iPad event today, the company pointed out that the Mac Pro has been especially useful for people in the high-end movie and music industry.

The $2,999 Mac Pro has a 3.7GHz Intel Xeon processor, 12GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, and AMD FirePro graphics.  The SSD storage has a faster PCIe type that is found in MacBook and iMac systems.  The WiFi in the Mac Pro is 802.11ac.  The port panels light up when you open the cover.  There are 6 Thunderbolt 2 ports and 3 simultaneous 4K displays including one from a built-in HDMI output.

The new Mac Pro is 70% more efficient than the current Mac Pro desktop.  The new Mac Pro is quiet with very little fan noise.  Apple compared it to the sound level of a Mac Mini desktop.
