In the past couple of months, there has been speculation about what type of display the iPad 3 will have. MacRumors has confirmed that they have been able to obtain an iPad 3 display and examine it under a microscope to determine whether it has an ultra-high resolution Retina display.
The iPad 3 display is supposed to have the same size as the iPad 1 and iPad 2 display at 9.7″ diagonal. When comparing the iPad 2 and the iPad 3 display under a microscope, the difference in resolutions are apparent. The iPad 3 display pixels are one-quarter the size of the iPad 2.
Apple is expected to announce the iPad 3 at a media event on March 7th. The iPad 3 is also expected to have an A6 system-on-a-chip and LTE support.
