Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer is auctioning an opportunity to have a lunch with her on  Yesterday bids hit as high as about $5,000 and today it is at above $67,500 as of the time I am writing this.  About 20 bids have been made so far and there are 15 days left to bid.  When Apple CEO Tim Cook auctioned himself on the same website a couple weeks ago, the winning bidder paid $610,000.

“Marissa Mayer joined Yahoo! as President and CEO in July 2012. Since then, she has focused Yahoo! on creating inspiring and delightful products and making Yahoo! the absolute best place to work. Under her leadership, the company has re-imagined a number of daily habits, including Yahoo! Mail, the homepage, Flickr, and Yahoo! Weather. Prior to Yahoo!, Marissa was at Google for 13 years and held numerous positions including engineer, designer, product manager, and executive. She played an instrumental role in Google Search, leading the product management effort for more than a decade. Marissa also led the development of some of Google’s most successful services including Google Maps, Street View, Google Local and Zagat, Google Toolbar and iGoogle, and she helped define such pivotal products as Google News, Gmail and Chrome. She holds a dozen patents across the areas of artificial intelligence and interface design,” says the description of Mayer on the website.

The proceeds of the bid will go towards “Aspire East Palo Alto Charter School.”  East Palo Alto Charter School, also known as EPACS, has a goal to put their students on the road to a four-year degree.  EPACS said that their students’ achievements rival nearby schools with over twice as much funding.  Even Oprah Winfrey donated $1 million to Aspire Public Schools in September 2010.
