Billionaire investor and entrepreneur Mark Cuban has invested in a sustainable food startup that did a pitch on the TV show “Shark Tank.” The food startup makes nutritional bars that are made with crickets. Chapul believes that crickets are optimal protein.
Chapul founder Pat Crowley sought $50,000 for a 5% stake in the business. The investors in the show backed out except for Mark Cuban and Rob Herjavec.
Herjavec offered $50,000 for 20% equity and then Cuban jumped in and asked for 10% for $50,000. Chapul Flour may sell its flour at three times what it costs to make.
