Mark Pincus Blames Facebook For Engagement Decline

Zynga CEO Mark Pincus is blaming “changes to Facebook’s platform” for the decline in user engagement.  Zynga is extremely reliant on Facebook’s gaming platform so even subtle changes could dramatically affect Zynga’s revenues.

Zynga said that users are “not coming back as often” due to Facebook’s changes to “favor new games” over existing games like FarmVille and CityVille.  “It’s good for new games, challenging for existing games.”

Pincus said that the company still works closely with Facebook.  Pincus indicated that they will be looking to mobile for growth as proved by their acquisition of “Draw Something” parent company OMGPOP.  Yesterday Zynga announced $332 million in Q2 revenue.
