Facebook Spent $700,000 For Mark Zuckerberg To Fly On Private Jets Last Year

It is very common for tech CEOs to travel by jet.  Earlier today Pulse2 wrote about how Michael Dell’s daughter posted a photo on Instagram of their private jet travels and last year Pulse2 wrote about how Google’s co-founders offered to pay NASA $33 million for a hangar to cover 8 private jets.

BusinessInsider has it that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg spent around $700,000 to fly on private charter flights.  The flights are private because Zuckerberg is needed to be kept safe from stalkers with all of the publicity that he receives.  Zynga CEO Mark Pincus has security that costs over $1 million and Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos spends over $1 million as well.

According to a recent filing with the SEC:

“The amount reported represent approximately $692,679 for costs related to personal use of aircraft chartered in connection with his comprehensive security program and on which family and friends flew during 2011. For purposes of reporting the value of such personal usage in this table, we use costs provided by the applicable charter company, which include passenger fees, fuel, crew and catering costs. The amount reported also represents approximately $90,850 for costs related to estate and financial planning during 2011.”
