Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman (pictured left) and former HP CEO Carly Fiorina (pictured right) are progressing in their political careers. Whitman won the Republic nomination for governor of California and Fiorina won the U.S. Senate primary election.
Whitman and Fiorina is competing against Democrat rivals Gov. Jerry Brown and Sen. Barbara Boxer. Boxer has been in the U.S. Congress for almost 28 years.
Chris Kelly, former Facebook privacy chief attempted to run for the Attorney General of California too. He put in about $12 million of his own money into the campaign. He received a loan from a Delaware-based private equity company to exercise stock options in Facebook. He sold enough stock options to power his campaign.
It was reported that Whitman put in about $80 million of her own money to compete against California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner. Whitman left eBay in 2008 and Fiorina was asked to step down in February 2005. [CNET]
