The city of Menlo Park, California has given Facebook permission to build a second campus that is west of the Bayfront Expressway. The second campus is near Facebook’s current headquarters on the other side of the road. Mayor Peter Ohtaki said “Congratulations” to Facebook officials earlier this week when the city council voted 4-0 to let the company build an additional campus. He added “Where’s the ‘Like’ button?” as quoted by the Mercury News.
Facebook’s new campus will be about 433,555 square feet. The campus will be designed by Frank Gehry and it will include a rooftop park. The campus will be located at the address located at 312 and 313 Constitution Drive. Gehry is known for designing the Guggenheim Museum in Bilboa, Spain and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.
Mark Zuckerberg asked the designer to make the campus look low key. The white stucco building will be hidden by the landscape and the rooftop park.
