Metacloud receives $15 million in funding

Metacloud is a company that offers simplicity and convenience of the public cloud with the performance, security, and economic advantages of the private cloud. Metacloud has raised $15 million in a new round of funding from Pelion Venture Partners, Silicon Valley Bank, UMC Capital, AME Cloud Ventures, Canaan Partners, and Storm Ventures.

The funding will be used for staffing up its OpenStack private cloud development and marketing. Metacloud has now raised a total of $27 million. Metacloud offers the OpenStack-based Carbon|OS that runs on existing hardware as part of a cloud-as-a-service for companies that want to offer self-service applications to employees.
