Micron Technology has announced a new terabyte solid state drive (SSD), which will have a fast boot-up time and draw little power at around 0.15W during normal operation. The NAND flash drive will have a speed of up to 95,000 input/output operations per second. The sequential speeds of the drive could reach up to 550MB/s for read and 500MB/s for write. This maxes out the capabilities of the SATA 6 GB/s interface. Micron’s Crucial brand offers the M550 2.5-inch SSD in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities.
