Microsoft Announces Surface 2 And Surface Pro 2 Tablets

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has announced the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets.  Microsoft has been working on these tablets for the last two years. Microsoft said that the Surface Pro 2 is “faster than 95% of laptops today.”

The Surface Pro 2 has a 20% speed increase and a 50% graphics boost over the original version.  The new tablets have the new Intel Haswell processor.  Microsoft claims that the chip will see a 75% increase in battery life.  The back of the tablet has a kickstand with an extra angle so now it has two angles.

The Surface 2 is lighter and faster than the Windows RT tablet.  The Surface 2 has a 1080p ClearType resolution screen and will be available in a silver/white combination.  The processor speed is around four times faster than the Surface RT.

The USB ports on the tablets have been upgraded to USB 3.0.  They have a battery that is 25% more than before.  Windows RT 8.1 is installed on the tablets.  There are now 100,000 apps available through the Windows Store, which is 10 times greater than when the original Surface RT was announced.  Microsoft Office is pre-installed on the tablet.
