Microsoft has announced today that they will be acquiring Perceptive Pixel, a 6 year old multi-touch workstation and “wall solutions” company. The financial details of the deal were undisclosed. Perceptive Pixel’s patented technology is often used by broadcast company, government entities, defense organizations, high education institutions, etc. Jeff Han is the CTO and co-founder of Perceptive Pixel.
Earlier this year Perceptive Pixel released the first ever simultaneous pen and touch solution. Microsoft announced the acquisition at the Microsoft worldwide partner conference in Toronto.
At the conference, Perceptive Pixel showcased how their technology works with Windows 8. Perceptive Pixel’s hardware sells for about $180,000, but Microsoft plans to make it more affordable.
