Microsoft CEO: Surface Sales “Are Starting Modestly”

Posted Nov 12, 2012

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that one of the Surface models was sold out online for more than one week.  When speaking to the French daily newspaper Le Parisien, Mr. Ballmer said that sales “are starting modestly.”

However he said that the sales were constrained by the limits of the sales channel.  The Microsoft Surface is currently being sold at the Microsoft store online and at a few electronics retail stores.  The $499 Microsoft Surface tablet was sold out for over a week and was listed as “out of stock” during that time.

A higher end Microsoft Surface is coming soon and it will be 0.53-inches thick, have a 3rd generation Intel Ivy Bridge Core i5 processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000, 4GB memory, and a 128GB SSD hard drive.
