Nokia’s shares have been slipping and their integration of Windows Phone into their devices has been steady, but not great. There are rumors that Samsung and Microsoft both considered acquiring Nokia. Samsung denied that they were interested, but The Register UK wrote about how Microsoft looked at Nokia’s financials, but ended up walking away.
According to the Register, Microsoft looked at Nokia’s books late last year to see if the company was worth acquiring, but walked away after seeing the results. Microsoft did not want to buy Nokia and the company was not looking for a sale either. Fortunately, Nokia has a large cash reserve plus a massive number of patents sitting around.
