Microsoft Disables Skype Passwords After Security Issue

Posted Nov 14, 2012

Microsoft Corporation, the parent company of Skype, has disabled passwords for the VoIP service after a security hole was discovered in Skype’s password recovery tool.  The Russian hackers just needed your Skype username and e-mail address to penetrate the accounts.  By having those details, they would be able to access your account and change the password in minutes.  “We have had reports of a new security vulnerability issue. As a precautionary step we have temporarily disabled password reset as we continue to investigate the issue further. We apologize for the inconvenience but user experience and safety is our first priority,” said Skype in a statement.
