Microsoft Corporation will be hiring 1,000 people across the country of China in the next year. This would be on top of the 4,500 people that they employ there already. Microsoft is aiming to strengthen the company’s position there. The employees in China will be added to the R&D, sales/marketing, and services department according to Microsoft’s CEO for Greater China Ralph Haupter. Microsoft has been cracking down on piracy in China as they sued Gome Electrical Appliances Holding this past January for installing pirated versions of their software on PCs. Microsoft is also building a large cloud computing center in Shanghai, which will employ around 600 people.
