Ryan Gavin, the general manager of Internet Explorer Business and Marketing at Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), wrote about how the company is planning to automatically upgrade Windows customers to the latest version of Internet Explorer on their computers.
Microsoft plans on starting the upgrade for customers in Australia and Brazil who has turned on automatic updating through Windows Update. The home page, search provider, and default browser content will not be changed.
Microsoft believes that the web is better and safer when people have the most up-to-date browser. While I agree with Microsoft in the case of safety, the problem is that newer versions of Internet Explorer tend to be clunkier and runs slow on older laptops. However Internet Explorer 9 has some pretty good new features such as HTML5 support and pinned website support.
