Microsoft Preparing For Bing Launch With $100 Million Ad Campaign

Posted May 27, 2009

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is preparing for the launch of a new search engine service called Bing. Microsoft believes that they need to overhaul the brand of their search engine. As you are all aware, Live.com just doesn’t seem as catchy as Google.com.

In order to push the Bing brand name, Microsoft has even budgeted around $100 million for their next search engine. The ad agency that was pulled in for help is called JWT. JWT even had to hire additional creative staff for this project given the scope of how large it is.

It is not known how Microsoft’s new search engine will differentiate from Google, but some people are saying that the multimedia search results look quite different from the standard view.

Microsoft has been having some luck with the I’m A PC and Laptop Hunter campaigns because the software giant has been pointing out how expensive Apple computers are. And for the most part, they are correct. In today’s economic conditions, many people prefer to pick up cheaper PCs over their $1,000 Mac competitors.
