Microsoft is winding down their support for Windows XP. Windows XP is Microsoft’s met widely used operating system. Microsoft announced that Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows XP will be ended.
Windows XP is now around 12 years old. Microsoft wants consumers to adapt to Windows 8.1. Windows XP would have to turn to other anti-virus software for their security needs as a result of this change. Around 20-30% of Internet users around the world are on Windows XP and 50% of those users are in China.
Microsoft obviously recommends consumers and businesses to switch to their newest operating system: Windows 8. Of course, there are certain hardware requirements for Windows 8 so new computers may have to be purchased that has Windows 8 built in.
