Microsoft Shutting Down Windows 7 Beta On July 1

Posted May 26, 2009

Microsoft Corporations stated that they are planning on shutting down the beta version of Windows 7 starting on July 1.  There was an announcement from before that was circulating a message that the beta would not be available on June 1.

“The date for when bi-hourly shutdowns will begin for the Windows 7 Beta was incorrect,” stated Microsoft Windows blogger Brandon LeBlanc. “We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused.”

On July 1, those who are still running Windows 7 beta will see their computers automatically shut down and reboot every couple of hours.  That will serve as a reminder that the new operating system will no longer be available.

LeBlanc has even encouraged users to try out Windows 7 Release Candidate.  That is a more developed version of the operating system.  Windows 7 RC will even be available until June 1, 2010 and then users will be asked to buy a full and paid version.
