According to NPD Group, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has sold 1.37 million Xboxes in the U.S. This means that they have outsold the PS3 and the Wii for the sixth month in a row. The Wii sold 1.2 million during the same month. The PS3 numbers are unknown.
“Certainly Kinect was an accelerant to the business,” stated Xbox spokesman David Dennis in an interview. “We certainly felt like we had a hit on our hands before launch, and it’s great to see consumer validation of that.” Microsoft sold 2.5 million Kinect sensors in the first 25 days since it launched on November 4th. The device now has a shortage.
