Microsoft Windows 8 Hits 100,000 Apps

Microsoft Corporation has hit 100,000 Windows 8 applications.  Around 8 months ago, Windows 8 went for sale in October.  Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer anticipated that Windows 8 will hit 100,000 apps by July in time for the Build conference.  However, the milestone was achieved slightly after Build.

This means that it took around 7 months for Windows 8 to hit 100,000 apps.  It took Windows Phone around 18 months to hit the same milestone.  It took the Apple App Store around 14 months to hit iPad-specific apps.  Android hit 100,000 apps in 18 months.
