David Gosen, VP of Marketing of Xbox Europe at Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 console has sold over 8 million units in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East , and Africa). “As we see more and more families looking to save money by staying in, Xbox 360 continues to offer high-quality home entertainment at fantastic value and consumers,” stated Gosen.
During the 2008 Christmas season, Xbox 360 sales doubled in Europe over the same period in 2007. Microsoft anticipates that this growth will continue through 2009 as they reduce price points and leverage their publisher and retail partnerships. In the EMEA area, the Xbox 360 has a one million unit lead over the Sony PS3.
