Hulu has named Fox Networks distribution chief Mike Hopkins as CEO of Hulu. We reported around a week ago that Hopkins would become CEO. Hopkins will be replacing interim CEO Andy Forssell. Forssell is actually leaving Hulu as a whole.
?After an extensive search, Mike was simply the best candidate for the job. He has a strong understanding of programming, digital distribution and consumer behavior, and a great vision for Hulu?s next chapter,? stated Disney Media Networks co-chairman and Disney/ABC Television Group president Anne Sweeney.
Hulu is expected to hit $1 billion in 2013 revenues.
?On behalf of the Hulu board I want to thank Andy Forssell for his leadership during this past year, and for the vital role he played in building Hulu into the amazing product it is today. We wish him the best on his next venture,? added Fox Networks Group chairman and CEO Peter Rice. ?With Mike?s appointment, and its owners fully aligned and committed to seizing the incredible opportunities that lie ahead, we look forward to a very bright future for Hulu.?
Hopkins is especially known for his expertise in negotiations. He oversaw the distribution for the new national network Fox Sports 1.
