Boomlagoon is a Finnish mobile game studio, created by former Angry Birds creators, that has raised $3.6 million in funding. This round of funding was provided by European investors Northzone, Inventure, and 360 Capital Partners with participation from existing investors Jari Ovaskainen and London Venture Partners.

Boomlagoon was launched by three former Rovio team members that worked on Angry Birds. Boomlagoon launched in 2012 and now has 8 employees. Boomlagoon’s first mobile game Noble Nutlings already had a good start. The studio learned from the success of Angry Birds that creating fun characters is important. The company will be revealing its second game in the next few weeks.

Boomlagoon will be using the funding to expand its team and continue making character-driven casual mobile games. The CEO of Boomlagoon is Antti Stén, who was the lead server architect for the original Angry Birds. Tuomas Erikoinen, the CCO of Boomlagoon, was the lead artist of Angry Birds.
