MoPub is a company that enables mobile app publishers to set up ad campaigns on their products. MoPub has hit a $100 million revenue run rate this month. MoPub is currently hitting about 2 billion ad auctions per day and is reaching about 550 million unique devices per month, according to TechCrunch. MoPub’s ad exchange launched around 18 months ago so they clearly grew the business very quickly.
MoPub gained a lot of momentum in the past 4-6 months and saw incredible growth since the end of last year. MoPub’s revenue is up three times compared to Q4 2012.
MoPub CEO Jim Payne said that they are seeing almost 50-50 on iOS and Android in terms of ad distribution. About 60% of their revenue comes from iOS. The most popular ad format is similar to the “app install” platform that can be seen often on Facebook.
Ads purchased through MoPub are done through a real-time bidding (RTB) system. Around 20% of the ads on the MoPub exchange are cleared through real-time bidding. There are over 75 bidders including Jumptap, Turn, and InviteMedia.
