Motorola drops the price of the Moto X to $399 without a contract

Motorola has decided to drop the cost of the Moto X smartphone to $399 without a contract, which is down from $550. The new price was announced this morning and applies to all carriers. One of the disadvantages of the Moto X was the price at launch.

In December, Motorola started selling the Moto X for a temporary price of $349, but this price drop is not temporary.

By offering the lower price, Motorola is undercutting the Samsung Galaxy S4 ($600) and the iPhone 5s ($650).

Motorola has been pursuing a low-price strategy lately. The company also recently launched the Moto G smartphone for a price of $179 without a contract.
