Instagram recently changed their terms of service and it says that they have the rights to sell your photos as ads. However Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom insisted that the company will not actually do that. They intend to monetize their service by placing sponsored posts from brands within the News Feed. One of the largest brands to stop using Instagram as a result of the terms of service change is National Geographic. National Geographic posted a message that said “@NatGeo is suspending new posts to Instagram. We are very concerned with the direction of the proposed new terms of service and if they remain as presented we may close our account.” National Geographic has over 640,000 followers on Instagram. Instagram became a subsidiary of Facebook following a $1 billion acquisition in April 2012.
