Netflix founder Reed Hastings joined the Microsoft board of directors in 2007 and was the lead independent director. However Hastings has stepped down from the re-election process when Netflix’s shareholders meet in November.
?I?ve decided to reduce the number of boards I serve on, so that I can focus on Netflix and on my education work,? stated Hastings. Hastings is also on the board of directors at Facebook, Dreambox Learning, the Knowledge Is Power Program, and the California Charter Schools Association. And of course he is on the board at Netflix.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that Hastings has “been a terrific board member, and his insights and experience have really helped guide us through a critical period of transformation for both Microsoft and the industry.?
