Netflix is now offering new customers a streaming plan for only $6.99, which is $1 less than the regular fee of $7.99. The downside of the lower cost is that only standard definition video is supported compared to high definition.
The other disadvantage of the lower cost is that you can only watch video on one screen at a time instead of two. Four screens at a time costs $11.99 per month as part of a “family plan.”
Netflix is testing the cheaper and basic plan among new users before making it available on a wider basis.
