Netflix Hires Creators Of “The Matrix” For Original Series

Online video streaming company Netflix has hired Andy and Lana Wachowski, the creators of The Matrix series of movies, to produce a show called Sense8.  Netflix also brought on Joe Straczynski, the creator of Babylon 5, for this program.  The plot of Sense8 is not yet known.

“Andy and Lana Wachowski and Joe Straczynski are among the most imaginative writers and gifted visual storytellers of our time,” stated Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “Their incredible creations are favorites of Netflix members globally and we can’t wait to bring Sense8 to life.”

The Sense8 series is being produced by Georgeville Television in association with Studio JMS.  Georgeville Television is an independent television studio run by Reliance Entertainment that was formed by Marc Rosen in partnership with Deepak Nayar and Leon Clarance.  Georgeville currently has two series in pre-production including NBC’s Crossbones.  Rosen, Nayar, and Clarance will be executive producers on Sense8.

Netflix has been active in the development of original programming.  Netflix currently exclusively hosts the series House of Cards.  Netflix is also funding the return of a new Arrested Development series starring the original cast.
