Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) is increasing the price of its streaming service from $7.99 per month to $8.99 for new customers. Existing Netflix subscribers will stay at the $8 price for the next two years. The last time Netflix increased its price, there was a user uproar. At that time, Netflix’s streaming and DVD rental service was under the same umbrella. Netflix unbundled the services in 2011 as the streaming service grew in size. Streaming users paid $7.99 and DVD renters paid $7.99 separately. To have access to both, you would have to pay $16 per month.
