Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has signed a deal with Canadian comedian and actor Russell Peters. On October 14th, a 70-minute stand-up comedy performance starring Peters will launch on Netflix called “Notorious.” Netflix will also host a four-part documentary-series called ?Russell Peters vs. the World? that follows Peters on tour.
The programs will be available for streaming in all of the territories that Netflix is available, including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Latin America, Scandinavia and The Netherlands.
Peters is not the only comedian of Indian descent that Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) made a deal with recently. Netflix also signed a deal with Aziz Ansari for his stand-up special called “Buried Alive.” That program will start streaming on November 1st. Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) will be screening the special on September 9th at the TIFF Bell Lightbox theater in Toronto.
?Russell?s genius is his uncanny gift to identify the idiosyncratic within all of us,? stated Netflix’s VP of originals Lisa Nishimura. ?He is prolific, fresh and a global force that will resonate with our members around the world.?
Russell Peters and his brother Clayton are listed as the executive producers of ?Notorious? and ?Russell Peters vs. the World.? The special was filmed on March 15 at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia.
?I?ve always prided myself on being outside the box and slightly ahead of the curve, which is why Netflix is the perfect fit for me,? stated Russell Peters. When Peters pointed out that he owes a lot of his success due to viral YouTube clips, he said ?the Web took my career to a whole other level ? we both owe a lot to the Internet.?
