There were mixed reviews of the new season of Arrested Development on Netflix, but the video streaming service wants to give it another try. Imagine Entertainment co-chairman Brian Grazer said that the company is in negotiations with Netflix for another web-only season of the show.
“We are in conversations with them to do another,” stated Grazer in an interview with Bloomberg Television at the Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley. “They are interested in doing that.”
Arrested Development ran for three seasons on Fox TV before it was cancelled in 2006. The fourth season ran on Netflix this past year.
“We have said before that we’d be interested in doing another season of ‘Arrested Development’ if it is logistically possible,” stated Netflix representative Joris Evers in an interview with CNET. “That’s still true; we have nothing new to report.”
Aside from the reviews, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said that Netflix is taking a long-term approach to the series instead of just day-one ratings. The initial response met Netflix’s high expectations.
