New Orleans Saints Player Jon Vilma Created A Mobile App Company That Lets You Order Drinks Remotely

Jon Vilma, a linebacker for the New Orleans Saints, is a partner in a company called BarEye.  BarEye is a mobile startup company that has created an app for bar owners and bar patrons.  Ordering a drink at a crowded bar can take a very long time.  Sometimes you end up having to leave your credit card or an open tab behind.  BarEye started with a trial run in Tallahassee, Florida, but now they will be expanding into Atlanta, New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, and New York City.  Vilma owns a bar in Miami.  The company has raised an undisclosed amount from angel investors.

Vilma partnered with Andrew Bennett and Richard S Hunter III to launch BarEye.  BarEye has an app for Android and iOS that can be used for drinking at bars.  The app can be used to “check in” at participating bars.  They can buy real drinks for themselves and buy a drink for an attractive stranger.  BarEye is available at 17 bars and it has been used for 6,000 drinks.  No cash is exchanged when ordering the drinks.

When you are ready to order, tap on “buy drink.”  After buying the drink, you just have to show the bartender that you have ordered and paid for the drink.  Then you just have to wait for it to get made.

BarEye plans to create iPad solutions for bars to receive the orders and send push notifications to customers when the order is ready.  The problem right now is that most bartenders are not used to having to pay attention to an iPad.

BarEye is also launching a feature for users to buy drinks at a bar even if they are not physically there.  This way you can buy a shot for a friend every if you are across the country for their birthday.
