Startup Chat Company Nimbuzz Hits 100 Million Users

Nimbuzz is a company that has developed an application to make voice and VoIP calls.  The service also lets you communicate through instant messages and share data on any mobile device or through your desktop for free.

Nimbuzz is now being used by 100 million people worldwide.  Growth is especially strong across Asia and the Middle East.  In the U.S., Nimbuzz has around 6.5 million users.

Nimbuzz launched in the Netherlands in 2006 with the goal of helping consumers reduce the cost of calls to landline and mobile phones.  Nimbuzz integrates chatting services like MSN, Google Talk, and Yahoo! Messenger into their app.

Nimbuzz is also connected to Facebook, Twitter, iOS, Android, Symbian, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry.  Over 4,000 devices are supported.

Nimbuzz has $25 million in funding from companies like Mangrove Capital Partners and Naspers/MIH.
