When the Nintendo 3DS first hit the market, there were some major challenges in penetrating the handheld market because consumers preferred using tablets and smartphones over consoles. However, Nintendo dropped the price of the 3DS and introduced exclusive games to the handheld console.
Now Nintendo has has hit 11.5 million in total lifetime 3DS consoles in the U.S. Nintendo also sold 16 million 3DS games in North America last year alone, which is a 45% increase over 2012.
Nintendo’s 3DS exclusive titles hit a Metacritic score of around 85 or better and no other platform was able to hit that figure. Some of the other games that we are expected to see this year includes Bravely Default, Super Smash Bros., and Yoshi’s New Island.
