Nissan Motor Company has announced that they will be launching cars that can drive themselves by 2020.  Nissan made this announcement at a recent event in California.

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said that he wants his company to be the first to sell self-driving cars.  Nissan is also hoping to offer this system at a reasonable price within two vehicle generations.

Nissan partnered with schools like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Tokyo to build the autonomous cars.  Nissan is building the first dedicated proving ground for autonomous cars near their headquarters in Japan as well.

Nissan has some autonomous technology in their cars already, like motion-detecting cameras.
