Recently Nokia Corporation introduced a new embedded in-dash navigation system called HERE Auto. HERE Auto gives you voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation in 95 countries along with traffic re-routing and fuel prices. As you approach your destination, you will see street level images, parking availability, and indoor maps.
Nokia HERE Auto works offline and shows you a helicopter view when you are driving on a highway. It also shows you a zoomed-in view when you are in the city and street level images when approaching the destination.
Nokia is also offering OS-independent RESTful APIs for HERE Auto. This way car companies will be able to offer and have full control of integrated in-car experiences.
You can use Nokia HERE to synchronized your favorite places, routes, and commutes on various devices. The HERE Auto Companion app is compatible with Android and Windows Phone devices. The app lets you find out where you left your car and allows you to stay in touch with all the sensors in your vehicles like the fuel level and tire pressure. You can also lock and unlock your car or control air conditioning.
Nokia HERE Auto is integrated in Continental’s next generation Open Infotainment Platform. Nokia HERE also works with partners like Magneti Marelli and several others to bring HERE Auto to the market in the next several months. We will also find out which car models will integrate the system at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) on September 10th.
