Nokia is recalling Lumia 2520 tablet chargers because of electric shock concerns

Posted Apr 17, 2014

Nokia sent out a warning to Lumia 2520 tablet owners because the chargers may be faulty and may cause electric shock. Around 30,000 chargers have been identified as hazardous to 2520 owners in Europe.

This recall affects 600 travel chargers sold in the U.S. Nokia is asking Lumia 2520 owners to stop using the chargers now. The AC-300 chargers were made by a third-party supplier and can lose their covers, which exposes wires that could cause electric shock.

“While there have been no confirmed consumer incidents related to this potential quality issue, product quality and safety are top priorities at Nokia,” stated Jo Harlow, EVP of smart devices at Nokia. “We apologize to the owners of the Lumia 2520, and we are working with urgency to minimize the inconvenience.”

It is not yet clear whether 2520 owners should return their device for a refund or wait for a new charger yet. You can follow the recall at:
