NTT DoCoMo Hits 10 Million LTE Subscribers

NTT DoCoMo, the leading mobile operator in Japan, has surpassed 10 million Xi subscribers.  Xi is the company’s high-speed LTE mobile service that offers a maximum downlink of 100Mbps.

Xi subscriptions has been growing rapidly ever since they debuted their first LTE services on December 24, 2010.  DoCoMo Xi LTE subscribers hit one million by December 2011 and shot up to 5 million by August 2012.

DoCoMo is continuing the expansion of their LTE coverage.  The company plans to make a 112.5Mbps connection available in 22 cities by March and 50 cities by June.  DoCoMo is also planning on launching a 150Mbps downlink service by March 2014.
