Numecent is a company that offers friction-free digital delivery, deployment, and provisioning of native software. The company also offers non-linear assets through virtualization. Numecent’s patented cloudpaging technology can reduce the network footprint of digital downloads between 20 and 100 times the speed. Numecent has raised $13.6 million in funding round led by T-Venture, the venture capital arm created by Deutsche Telekom. Numecent has raised over $30 million in funding thus far.
Numecent can divide assets into small fragments called “pages” on the server-side that can fetched “on-demand” through HTTP / HTTPS by a virtual memory management unit on the client, according to TheNextWeb. This means that you can start consuming content from 50GB file even after it downloads only 100MB. This works very well for cloud-based gaming.
?Numecent has a potentially game-changing new technology with a huge ?wow? factor,? stated Deutsche Telekom?s Product & Innovation Senior Vice President Dr. Aleksandar Mitrovic. ?We are delighted to support them with this investment through our T-Venture subsidiary. As Telcos around the world evolve to become Cloud services providers for consumers, SMBs and enterprises alike, disruptive technologies such as Numecent?s cloudpaging will offer unique differentiation opportunities and compelling benefits for our users.?
Some of Numecent’s customers include enterprises, managed service providers, independent software vendors, and telecommunications companies. Clearly T-Venture’s investment in Numecent is strategic. Numecent will use the funding to expand sales, marketing, and engineering. The company also plans to make cloudpaging available for Linux and Android.
