The Washington Post is teaming up with Socialcam to create and distribute the coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.  The app does not impose a time limit on videos, which makes it great for Washington Post reporters carrying iPhones to tape ?on-the-scene interviews? at the Olympic Games.

The Washington Post regularly asks readers to share their own videos on their website.  Some of the videos will appear on an interactive map on called “London Eyes.”  The map will be added in mid-July.

Socialcam spun out of in spring 2011.  Socialcam allows users to create and share videos and cross-post them to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, Dropbox, and Posterous.

The average length of a Socialcam video is between 60 and 90 seconds.  Socialcam hit around 16 million downloads between the iPhone and Android according to Socialcam’s internal measuring.
