Olympus has announced a new camera product known as the PEN E-P5. The E-P5 is a Micro Four Third mirror-less camera has a 16-megapixel TruePic VI Live MOS sensor, 5-axis image stabilization, a fast AF system, and shutter speeds of up to 1/8000.
The built-in flash has a sync speed of up to 1/320th of a second. The PEN E-P5 also has WiFi connectivity and an interchangeable lens. The PEN E-P5 also has a 1.04 million dot high-definition tilt-type display.
Olympus is launching a new smartphone app called Olympus Image Share 2.0. The smartphone app will be synchronized with the the E-P5 screen. The Photo Story+ feature lets photographers take pictures from different positions and put them together into a collage. The collage also supports stamps and signatures through the Olympus Image Share app.
There are 12 filters and the ability to shoot time lapse videos using the app with internal times that range at between 1 second and 24 hours. The live bulb mode reduces monitor glare and real-time histograms.
The PEN E-P5 is compatible with all existing Olympus Micro Four Third lenses. The camera is arriving later this month in black, silver, or white at a price of $999.99 for the body. If you want the camera with a black M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm f1.8 lens and VF-4 electronic viewfinder, it will cost $1,449.99.
