Outbox Raises $5 Million In Series A

Posted Jul 2, 2013

Outbox is a service that has raised $5 million in a new round of funding.  Floodgate led this round of funding.  Founders Fund, Correlation Ventures, TDF Ventures, Expansion VC, Peterson Ventures, and WTI participated in this round.  Outbox plans on using the funding to hire developers and designers.  They will also open up their services to their waiting list in the Bay Area.  The company is also going to expand.

The company launched in San Francisco this past February.  Outbox picks up your mail for you, sorts through the mail, and then uploads the pictures of incoming mail to an application or website.  Some of Outbox’s competitors includes PaperKarma, Zumebox, and Earth Class Mail.

You can use the service to get rid of the mail or unsubscribe from junk mail. You can also prioritize sends and have letters re-delivered.  Since you receive sensitive mail, Outbox takes security seriously and has their employees go through background checks.

Outbox is currently available in Austin, Texas and San Francisco, California.  The service costs $5 per month and it has raised $7.25 million thus far.
